If you’re looking to soak up Abu Dhabi’s famous year-round sunshine, the various beaches and parks are bound to satisfy your needs!
Corniche Beach
Looking to soak up Abu Dhabi’s famous year-round sunshine? The immaculate Corniche Beach is one of the best places to do it. This beautiful beach isn’t just home to turquoise water and soft, white sand, it also has a beautiful seaside boardwalk, with well-kept walkways home to manicured gardens and benches overlooking the picturesque Arabian Gulf. Sunset is a great time to capture a few photos, so don’t forget to bring your phone.
Mangrove National Park
Just outside Abu Dhabi city centre, the sprawling Mangrove National Park is a jewel in the UAE capital’s crown. An ideal place for families, bird watchers and photographers looking to escape the hustle of the city for a few hours, this beautiful and surprising park continues to be one of the emirate’s most important ecological assets, protected by the Environment Agency Abu Dhabi (EAD). Mangrove National Park constitutes about 75 per cent of the total mangrove forest area in the UAE and is a biodiversity hotspot that includes mangrove forests, salt marshes, mudflats, and algal communities.
Saadiyat Island
Just seven minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi and 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport, the gorgeous, natural 27-square-kilometre Saadiyat Island has been undergoing a remarkable transformation into a world-class leisure, residential, business and cultural hub.
Hudayriyat Island
From sunrise to sunset and even beyond, swimming enthusiasts can enjoy free access to the safe and secure Hudayriyat Beach. Extending over 24,000 square meters, 600 meters of the vast area is dedicated to swimming.
The beach offers visitors breath-taking views, large courtyards, a cycling track, and a running path, as well as four courts for football, volleyball, basketball, and tennis.
Celebrating the rich diversity of Abu Dhabi, the beach is also home to a variety of mobile food trucks that serve cuisine from countries all over the world. Several ice cream trucks are also dotted along the beach to keep visitors cool and refreshed.
Nurai Island
In the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf, to the east of the Abu Dhabi coastline, lies Zaya Nurai Island. A short 15-minute boat ride from the shores of Abu Dhabi, and a 60-minute journey from Downtown Dubai, this lush, secluded island is conveniently accessible from all major travel ports in the UAE.
From the Arabic word ‘nur’ meaning ‘light’, this sun-drenched paradise boasts azure waters, powder-white soft sand beaches, as well as stunning architecture and garden scapes. A blissful retreat for solo travellers, families and couples seeking peace and tranquillity, the idyllic Zaya Nurai Island is home to unparalleled and uninterrupted Arabian Gulf views.
Jubail Mangrove Park
Escape the hustle of the city and explore a haven for avian and marine species native to Abu Dhabi at the serene Jubail Mangrove Park, a sanctuary that offers incredible photo opportunities.
This jewel in Abu Dhabi’s crown is home to meandering boardwalks that allow you to wander through the mangroves, discovering a nature-rich side to Abu Dhabi and spotting an array of wildlife, from turtles to herons, gazelle and more. Birdwatchers, nature-lovers and photographers will be in their element here.
Planning a trip to the UAE? If Dubai is on your list, why not add a few days to your itinerary and visit Abu Dhabi after your Dubai vacation? You’ll be glad to know we’re just an hour away from Dubai by car.
